I’ll just facepalm myself here.  I plugged in a date to publish this thinking it was Friday..turns out it was Monday. Obviously jet lag and me don’t get along very well. *shakes head*

The Host comes out on Friday and wholeheartedly recommend you go! The film is a great adaption to a very detailed book. I will say if you haven’t read the book/aren’t interested in reading it; you should still see the movie. Saoirse, Jake and Max are incredible and the chemistry is CRAZY. I laughed, I cried, I sang loudly to Radioactive by Imagine Dragons at the end (no, but really.. I did.)

 Title:  Barefoot in Texas

Summary: I watch her jumping, prancing, her hands empty but taking pictures. Her feet bare on the hot Texas earth. Everything in my life that was planned to a T just whirled away in a ruffled skirt.

Jumping down, he’s laughing as he walks away. “Cullen, you’ve got so many chicks waiting in line for your Johnson, you’ll have no problem. Hell, they’re dying to perfect their walk of shame coming from your place.” Crushing his can in his beefy hand, he turns to me. “Gettin’ another, you want?”

“Yeah, alright.” I admire his effortlessness as he goes, high-fiving and wrapping his arms around girls’ shoulders as he makes his way to the coolers. It must be nice not to have to worry about how others perceive you.

The dancers seem to have given up and are basically just jumping while they hoot and holler, everyone relieved to be done for the year. I see who I think is the shutterbug in the mix, the headlights behind her causing her features to be blacked out by the backlight. The image is soothing, just a faceless, non-descript shape moving to the music, and I have the feeling she has no care in the world.

I’m hit with a sudden unnerving pang I can’t identify.

Why? The main reason? Mel (owner of this site) is from Texas. Anything from there reminds me of her. I had to read this because of her. She’s awesome.  Yay Tehas! I love how this fic is written and its short and sweet.

Summary:  Edward is having trouble balancing his urges for Bella’s blood and Bella’s body before the wedding. What started out as a simple “Practice Fic” has become a retelling of BD from EPOV that lets us see just how much he struggles for control at every turn.

Excerpt: 

When Bella had entered the classroom, I was curious about her. I had noticed in the cafeteria that I couldn’t pick up on her thoughts yet, so I was determined to pry a little harder and see if I could crack whatever brick wall was in my way. As she walked closer to me, I studied her appearance and didn’t see anything that I would have called noteworthy. She was fairly attractive, but just as many of the other girls at the school were. None of them ever did anything for me, either. I honestly didn’t see what had all of the other boys at school in such a state, other than the fact that she was something new. I probably would not have taken any more notice of her at all if it hadn’t been for the fact that I couldn’t hear her thoughts. That intrigued me. And frustrated me.

I don’t like to be frustrated.

Why? AwesomeSauce76 has always been a favorite author of mine. I am also very intrigued by any retelling/ version of the original Twilight books. This just caught my eye and ended up being a really interesting read.

HAPPY BREAKING DAWN PART 2 DVD RELEASE DAY EVERYONE! It’s a bittersweet day isn’t it? Last Twilight DVD release, well, let’s be real it’s probably not the LAST. Summit will most definitely find thousands of ways to release different editions of all 5 films together and separately just because they can.  I don’t know about you but I’d pay big money for the audition tapes..winkwinknudgenudgesummit.

& Happy March everyone! I’m always excited for February to end and March to begin..it means we’re that much closer to spring!

I wasn’t originally going to post FFF on a Saturday but it being DVD release day I think it’s quite perfect! Here’s a bunch of rec’s I truly hope you enjoy!

Title: A Rough Start

“And do you remember the last time you saw Miss Stanley, Mr. Cullen?”

The way she kept saying his name, ‘Mr. Cullen’, made Edward think she was going to put him in handcuffs and haul him off to prison if he even looked at her wrong.

Edward let out a loud burst of air. “Gee, uh…it’s been years. At least five, I’d say. We dated a little bit after high school but then she moved to Oregon with her parents and I stayed here. Why?”

Instead of answer, Heather pulled out another photograph, this time, of a little boy with piercing green eyes and light brown hair.

“How about this picture. Do you know who this is?”

Edward looked down at the child and instantly saw the resemblance to Jessica. But aside from the eye color, there appeared to be nothing that genetically tied him to Edward.

“I don’t have any kids,” Edward said without delay.

Why? I loved the concept & plot – it definitely intrigued me when I first saw this fic. The fact that the woman he’s talking to is named “Heather” also might’ve caught my attention

Emmett and I watched from the cafe window as Edward pulled on a pair of sunglasses and pulled the hood of his jacket up.

“Dude, do you think he’s going to go through with it?” Emmett asked, watching the scene play out before us. “Steal her purse, I mean.”

“Well, it’s not like you gave him much of choice,” I said as I watched Edward cross the street. He approached a young woman with long, dark hair window-shopping further down the street.

“Yeah, but do you think we should’ve told him that she’s the police chief’s daughter?” he asked.

I laughed; of course we could’ve told him, but where was the fun in that?

Why? That title made you think whhhhhhat?! Then you read the summary and you might even laugh to yourself, I know I did.  I loved this story because it felt so random and yet awesome at the same time.

“Insatiability,” he replied- his forehead wrinkled in an intense frown. He didn’t say anything else. He wasn’t smirking. His face was devoid of any irony. He actually looked…. troubled?

“Oh come on.”

“Huh? Oh! You think that was a line? No… uh… Miss Swan, is it? That was definitely not a line. I do not hunker in sex therapy offices to admit to pervy conditions in order to pick up women. I didn’t mock you. Please extend me the same courtesy,” he said with stilted dignity.

“Hunker, huh?” she snickered at him.

“Troll, loll, lollygag, skulk. Take your pick.”

“Swan…? Ms. Swan? Room two please. The doctor will see you in a few minutes.”

Why? I just love this.  I was laughing within the first minute of reading this & in the best way.

Our little screen door slammed behind me and I stopped dead in my tracks as I took in the car waiting for us.

It was black, sleek, sexy… and small.

However, my reaction to the car wasn’t nearly as strong as the one to the boy, man, stepping out of it. Black boots and dark ripped jeans swung out of the door as he climbed out. His faded navy shirt hugged his lean frame in the best way.

Why?  I have this obsession with one shot’s. Why you ask? If I start a long fic then I won’t stop until I’m done reading it..it’s a problem. So, to solve that, if I want to read really badly but don’t have a lot of time I read O/S. It works. I found this one and fell in LOVE! It’s cute and fun and flirty and sexy.

How is everyone doing? It’s almost March, how crazy is that?! Breaking Dawn part 2 will be on DVD within a week. Holy bittersweet emotions! I’m excited to see it again and be able to pause and rewind the awesome parts. I’m pumped to see the extra scenes/features! I am so sad though that this is the last Twilight movie DVD. I know we’ll probably get special ones but..this is technically the last one! SO WEIRD. Okay enough of my rambling..

“Here, can you use these?” I heard someone say in a deep British accent that made my toes suddenly want to curl, as I saw a hand jut out in front of my eyes, full of napkins.

Small miracles do happen.

“Yeah, thanks,” I said softly, realizing how loud I must’ve been.

I looked up, offering an apologetic smile to the beautiful stranger holding the napkins.

I stood there, momentarily frozen, struck by his initial beauty. As odd as that was to say about a man, it was true about this one. He put the word handsome to shame. His eyes were really what caught me. They were like a bright sea green that made me forget all about my leg, and the mess I had made.

“Let me know if you need anything else.”

Once he spoke, it was his voice that I couldn’t stop concentrating on. It was deep, but not rough at all. Almost sweet. And that accent… Wow… So fucking sexy!

I quickly began patting at the now cooling coffee, with the napkins the stranger had offered. In my dazed state, I had forgotten that I was still standing in the middle of an aisle on a busy airplane.

The beautiful man smiled at me, softly.

“Thank you,” I whispered, still a little stunned.

“You’re welcome, see you around,” he told me.

But something about him drew in Charlie Swan and a father-son bond was forged between the self-made English millionaire businessman and the brash American trust-fund baby. And, despite his air of superiority, Edward found himself looking up to Charlie, admiring the tenacious spirit with which he had dragged himself out of his impoverished, single parent background of public housing and under-funded, inner-city schooling, to build a successful, multi-million pound publishing business.

Why? There’s a tension and intensity in this fic that I couldn’t pull myself away from. I was drawn in from the first chapter. Edward is powerful and bold, Bella is young and living life! If you’ve got some free time this weekend I definitely recommend giving this fic a try!

How is everyone doing? I’m supposed to be getting two feet of snow today and tomorrow… for the record: I’m not a winter person. The only thing I like to do in the winter is ice skate and you can do that inside. So, I’ll probably be reading or writing during my snow day(s)

Cullen’s tatted up.

This is a new development. And I’m totally turned on.

“By lunch time tomorrow, Miss Swan. Yes?”

Shit. He’s talking again.

When I look up, he’s staring at me like I must be crazy.

I must be.

I clear my throat nervously before replying.

“Yes, Cullen… I mean, yes, Mr. Cullen, sir. I’ll have that done and come for you… I mean… come to you tomorrow with the proposals. You can count on me, sir, Mr. Cullen… sir.”

Shit. I’m an imbecile.

His brow arches before he straightens and walks away.

Why:  Who are you kidding… you saw the word tattoo & were immediately intrigued! I was. It’s adorable and romantic and lusty lemony all at the same time.  I read the first chapter and I was hooked!

“Sorry,” I whispered glancing behind me to make sure we hadn’t woken anyone. She followed my gaze before letting out a chuckle.

“Fuck and duck, huh?” she asked, leaning against the door frame and crossing her arms over her chest.

I shifted uncomfortably wanting to bypass this chit chat bullshit and get the fuck out of here.

“Yeah, something like that,” I sighed running my hand through my hair. She looked me over and nodded before motioning her head back behind her.

“The front door is straight down the hall and to the left.” she stated, pushing off the door frame.

Why? First off, this is an amazing author & you’ll be seeing more of her fics in my recs. Secondly, I really just fell in love with this story. Its emotional, angsty and pulls you right in. Those are my favorite kinds!

I had said I would try a “What I’m reading” fic each week but it’s too inconsistent right now. I will tell you Dissecting Edward, a fic I rec’d a couple weeks ago, has updated a few times since & WOW! It just keeps getting better. If you aren’t reading it, please do! The author is also incredibly sweet!
