I’m not totally sure if this still has been released before, but it is a different angle than the picture we always see of them in the car, so I thought I’d post/share!

Here are some other great OTR stills like this one!

It looks like On the Road will be back in theaters March 22, according to LA Times.  Though it does not include a list of theaters, here is what the article had to say about the long overdue release, where they also mentioned a VOD option:

After “On the Road” grossed just $150,000 in a total of six theaters and the film failed to pick up much awards interest, distributor IFC decided to shelve plans to widen the film in mid-January.

But in an unconventional move, it will give “On the Road” another whirl. Beginning March 22,  the movie will play on 150 screens, including several in cities, such as Chicago and San Francisco, where it never played. IFC will also make it available on VOD for the first time.

“We were planning a pretty major expansion for January,” Jonathan Sehring, president of IFC Films, said in a phone interview Wednesday. “But when you don’t get the awards attention that you’re hoping for, you have to be willing to change your plans.”  Sehring said he believes March offers a clearer runway, without the traffic of the holidays’ major awards titles.

From Kristen Stewart, Vogue UK, October 2012

“There is always going to be that seam of people who want things differently to the standardized version. It’s not necessarily a rebellious thing, it’s just who they are. That world back then, it just seems freer to me than anything I could ever touch and I’m fully nostalgic for it, even though I wasn’t even alive then…”

Kristen always fully submerges herself into her roles. And not just into the roles but into the time periods, situations and lives of the characters she is playing. I got the sense when I read this quote that Kristen really wanted to understand and fully experience the time of The Beats and equally longs for that type of free simplicity in her own life. I’m not sure that she’ll ever get it but I’m glad she was able to experience it in a role, at least.

Thoughts?

Separating the Beat character from the Beat-inspired actor wasn’t always easy. “Everytime I’d see him,” Stewart says of the years-long interim between casting and filming, when financing stalled production, “I’d be like, ‘Are you already doing it?’ He just never let up.” That “free spririt” cited by Salles manifested itself after filming, when Hedlund would “just take off walking,” Stewart says. Once, after Stewart let him lead her on an aimless 4 A. M. exploration of Montreal, she finally protested,“Dude, you don’t know where you’re going!” ”But he just kept on walking,” she recalls.
